In Greece tzatziki is a permanent and cherished fixture at any Greek meze or dinner party, served as a side or starter dish alongside other dips, a Greek salad and pita bread. In addition it is usually enjoyed in souvlaki and gyro or as a side dish for meat. Is tzatziki Greek?

Even though tzatziki might be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Greek dips, it actually has middle-eastern roots.
